If you're planning to be on the road for hours at a time, the most
comfortable travel cage is a large pet taxi. You can hang a hammock from
the vent holes and put a litter box in the bottom at the back. I put paper
towels in the litter box rather than litter. It's much more convenient for
the more frequent "box scoopings" you'll be doing on the road. All you
have to do is pick up the paper and dispose of it in a Ziploc bag. Keeping
the water bowls less than half full will lessen water spillage. Be sure
you put a lid on food bowls if you're going to leave your car parked in the
sun or the smell of warm grease will be rather offensive when you get back
in the car!

Be sure you secure the pet taxi with a seat belt. If the seat belt won't
fit through the handle, use a ratchet strap attached to the seat belt
brackets.
