I am a new ferret owner.  Before I adopted Ollie, I joined this list, got
on the Internet and asked other ferret owners about the responsibility I
was stepping into.  I volunteer for an animal rescue group and actually
was able to foster a ferret, which I fell in love with and adopted!  I
then decided to get him a playmate, I found a ferret at the local humane
society and adopted him.  I was lucky, they were instant buddies.
 
Taz is a bundle of joy, very active, loves to chase you, a little
daredevil!  Ollie is more laid back, the follower, but gets into
mischievous very quietly.  I have been fortunate enough to hear about a
woman in CO named Carolyn who does ferret rescue work.  I heard about her
through your list.  She is VERY knowledgeable and has set me in the right
direction to be a responsible, knowledgeable ferret owner.
 
My question and concerns are this: I had never seen a baby ferret until
last week.  No wonder they sell, they are adorable!  But I believe that way
too many people buy ferrets and do not understand what they are getting
into.  What can we do to help stop this impulsive buying?  When I went to
the Humane Society to adopt Taz, they did not ask me one question!  I know
most pet stores are the same way.
 
Thanks for all the advice I have received from all of you.  These little
guys mean a lot to our family.
