Dear Friends -

Sorry I have been lurking more than listing recently. For those
who don't know me, I have a single 1 1/2 year old MF ferret (Slinky) and
a wonderful cat (Leila) who often wonders about the weasel in the house.

I live in MA, where ferrets are illegal (as we all know). I know
in the past several years there have been bills introduced late in the
year which have died to legalize them here. However, in our district
we have a new state senate rep and a new state house rep. I happen
to know both of them quite well, and have worked with them on other
issues in the past. I am considering approaching them about introducing
and, mor importantly, actively working to pass a legalization bill.
However, I am only willing to do this if I know that organized groups
will stand behind this action. I don;t have the time necessary to
see this through alone but if groups like LIFE, AFA, etc are willing
to help, I might consider starting it. Be realistic - there will be lots
of opposition (see the post about the article from Cornell in the pase
few days, and realize NH, with all its misinformation, is right next
door), so it will take a lot of work, and may still fail.

Also - I have heard very little discussion here about the AFA
(American Ferret Association). What do people think - are they a good
group? Worth Joining?

Finally - a question for Pam - if I dont have Mosaic or another
web browser through an SLIP connection, is there a way to get copies
of your scanned images?

Feel free to e-mail me directly ([log in to unmask]) rather than
taking up list space, if you so desire.

Best all - and regrets to owners of Bandit and C-pi -

Mason, Slinky, and Leila (the cat who wonders why anyone would want to
make them LEGAL????)
