There is a ferret in the Lord of the Rings, The Fellowship of the Ring.
When the hobbits are at the Prancing Pony in Bree, one the inn patrons
has a ferret.

I'm looking forward to the upcoming Harry Potter movies. In the Goblet
of Fire, one of the Hogwarts teachers Mad Eye Moody turns Potter's
nemesis, Draco Malfoy into a ferret for attacking Harry while his back is
turned. That will be a cool scene to see the transfiguration on the big
screen. Also, in Prisoner of Azkaban Hagrid is feeding ferrets to the
Hippogriffs, but hopefully they won't show that!!!

Even recent cartoons have ferret references. The Mummy's boy character
Alex has a pet that resembles a ferret, though it could be a mongoose.
Even The Simpsons has an episode where the mob, Fat Tony has his gang
glueing cotton balls on ferrets to pass them off as french poodles.
Then it flashes to the news showing the cops busting the operation and
the newscaster, Kent Brockman says "Now the city is overrun with ferrets,
Happy Days!"

No, I'm not 12 - believe it or not I'm 26 but I'm just a big kid!!! Have
a great weekend everyone!
