Greetings all..
 
To the anonymous poster asking about crossing the CA border in and out
of Nevada.  I have heard (not that I would know..cough cough.) that the
route listed on Ferrets Anonymous's web site mapping the way in from
Laughlin to CA is 100% legit and works.
 
Try not to sweat it too much and just plan for extra time.
Drive Safe and bring lots of water.
