Today I morn the sudden passing of my Van Gogh (McKid/Ohio rescue '07).
His story was one of sad misunderstanding & horrid conditions like all
those saved from "that" place.

When I first met him Oct '07 at Rocky's during the shelter pick ups he
was cowering in the back of his cage. It took me almost 45 minutes to
get him out, using his very favorite green & black plaid flannel snuggy
sack. After that I walked around with him in that sack with him resting
his head on my shoulder watching the activity around him. He was a fear
biter and would latch on with lightening speed... in the beginning. It
took a few months to get him to trust me unconditionally, but he never
was a completely reformed biter, still catching me when I had my guard
down.

Last night I noticed he was losing the ability to control his back
legs. This morning he had messed himself and looked mortified as he
gazed up at me. I scooped him up, cleaned him off and was rewarded with
multiple kisses. He ate a large portion of warm gravy and snuggled into
is ever favorite green & black plaid flannel snuggy. I found him there
when I returned home from work. He had passed in his sleep sometime
during the day.

Van Gogh, my one eared sable boy, you will be deeply missed like none
that have gone before. We shared a long empathetic road together and I
feel so blessed to have had you in my life.

Your forever mommy,
Debbie
