I agree with you 100 percent.  The point is that these are sentient
creatures.  They feel pain, emotion and suffer like any other animal --
or human.  Therefore, they should not be wantonly neglected, abused or
killed.  And I cannot fathom why any so-called animal lover would condone
killing an animal based on its looks!
 
Wanna talk about genetic mutations?  On top of the fact that many
"prized" dog breeds, etc.  are due to genetic mutations, you could
include any number of human disabilities (and ordinary physical
characteristics, like certain eye colors) in that category.
