In February of this year, Barbara Ludt, our NE Branch shelter operator,
took six CDC ferrets out of a bad pet shop situation. They also had their
stitches, and a call to CDC revealed they do intentionally ship them that
way, and they are "supposed" to be dissolving. Like your friend, Barbara
didn't wait to find out and had them removed. The certificate stated they
were six weeks at the time of spaying/neutering.

I have one of the CDC girls here. Penny seems to be a bit larger than your
average MF female ferret. She's a little over four months old and weighs
2.5 pounds. I suspect she's going to get a bit larger before she's done.
Also, have you ever noticed that some ferrets, even though large, feel
rather light when you pick them up? And others of the same size seem more
solid? Penny is the latter, though I don't know if that has anything to do
with being Canadian. Her temperment seems the same as all other kits I've
seen. Wild and crazy, but she's starting to settle down a little bit. The
first day I met her in Melbourne, I got her a little too close to my face
and she got me on the nose. Now she wouldn't think of biting me there and
will only give kisses or just try to look the other way if I try to get her
to give me a kiss.

For the ferrets,
Mike
