For those who want them:

'Chopper died as a natural consequence of her cardiomyopathy. She had been
up to 2.0 ml (20 mg equivalent) of Furosemide three times a day and climbed
as recently as Thursday. Her heart just gave up too much to keep her lungs
clear anymore.

We don't know what type of parvo Spot had and the time before a post mortem
can be done (Our vet is away.) may not make that possible even though the
tests will be done anyway, or might even be able to tell us if there might
have been a false positive. Two suggested parvo varients are: Aleutian
and Mink Enteritis. (We are in a mink area.) May I suggest that folks
NOT let ferrets near their shoes since things might come in on them, and
isolate all ferrets with mouth sores till more is known.

Bruce Williams asked that people PLEASE remember the importance of doing
rapid post mortems. NO one would know beter than he oin that score; you
won;t find a better ferret pathologist. We have to find out what is going
around and killing ferrets.

Plase, plase please, try NOT to bring any ferrets to shows, play groups,
and the like if you have any with mouth sores and illnesses like those
described here in the mystery illness discussions, please, please. No
ferret should have to go through what Spot did so if the rate of infection
can be tackled it's a good place to start.

Steve and I are shell-shocked.

So far the other five ferrets are healthy so we hope they remain healthy.
