About 10 days ago during her recovery, Rikki spiked a 105-106 fever. Meds
were changed. She apparently caught a virus on top of everything else.
Cold symtoms very prominent. For over a week the fever went up and down.
Last Fri, at the beginning of the current heat wave in CA she quit eating.
So force feeding was necessary. She went from 835 grms at the beginning of
this illness to 575 at the end. Yes, I have to put her down about an hour
ago. Lack of effort on the part of the vets, staff, and myself are not what
took her. We suspect Lymphoma may have been the problem all along, as in
today's blood workup she had no white cell blood count, and she had begun
bleeding internally again.

It was one of the toughest decisions I've ever made, but I knew one more
prick and the pain and suffering she had been going through would be over
with. We sat outside the vet's office for about 1 hr, as she had never been
allowed outside without a covered carrier, and I wanted her to experience
sunshine and birds before going to the Bridge.

She will wait for me there, with her cage mate Tavvi.

So many of you sent comments and support my way when I originally posted
about Rikki, Thank you.
