Greets all!

I'm the current property of 2 ferrets; Merlyn and Morgan. I'm also
being time-shared with 2 cats and 3 hedgehogs. Anyway, I have a question
concerning the female ferret Morgan. First, a little scenario-building :

The last 2 female ferrets I lived with were both fixed; Miranda when
I bought here (rest now, little fuzzy) and Jasmine soon after I got her.
Morgan was not fixed when she came into my care a couple of months ago, and
I haven't seen fit to do it yet. So, I'm somewhat new at caring for an
unaltered female.

I know it can be dangerous (even lethal?) for a female ferret to go
into heat and not be mated. So, when I noticed a swelling on Morgans hindend
about where her genitalia would be, I became very concerned. Ferrets are
popular in Washington, but I haven't been able to find anyone really good
with them (vet wise), so I thought someone on the net could help me. Is this
swelling a sign of heat? Is it normal in an unfixed female? She seems fine
enough; playful, energetic, eating, and giving the male ferret heck, but
I'm still worried. Any advise would be much appreciated.

Thanks in advance,
glen miller
