Howdy,
 
Hagen makes the best ferret leashes I've seen.  They have the quick snap
connectors instead of using the normal thread through buckle type leashes.
 
Once you adjust the proper lengths to go around the ferret's neck and chest
area, pick up the fert and snap'em in within a couple seconds so there's no
fuss.
 
Up in Toronto, one of these leashes is about $20.00.  Come in many colours
and psychedelic patterns.  It also has a little bell on it to drive everyone
crazy, but would come in handy should the fert decide to roam in the
wilderness without you knowing.
 
Kate and I just bought one for the cat recently.  He likes it as well.
Actually walked with me the first time out at the cottage.
