CORN COB AS CAGE LINING - BAD EXPERIENCE
When we first had ferrets, we didn't know much about them. We just modeled
our cage after the cage at the pet store.

We put Yesterday's News in the litter box and corn cob all over the bottom
of the cage.

After finding weird looking poop from our youngest ferret, we brought a
sample to our vet (who is a ferret specialist).

She analyzed it and said Snowball's stomach was being irritated by tiny
bits of corn cob which never digested. They came out the other end in
the exact same form they went down in. OUCH!

Like all ferrets, Snowball dug her food out of the dish and in doing so,
mixed it in with the corn cob and ate it. We also learned that ferrets
have tender feet and walking on corn cob actually hurts them. Our vet
told us to get rid of the corn cob in the bottom of the cage for those two
reasons.

CORN COB AS LITTER - GOOD EXPERIENCE
Originally, we used Yesterday's News for the litter. That is until Koz,
our oldest ferret, began to eat paper and anything like paper. It got to
the point where, when we changed the litter pans, Koz would run and grab
a piece like it was a treat and ate it! We still had corn cob left and
decided to give that a try. It works great. The smell didn't get any
worse. And there sinus' didn't seem to be affected in any way.

I'm not saying that the sinus thing with corn cob isn't true. It may very
well be. I'm just relaying my experience. :o)

See you later FMLers!
