I just have time for a quick note here.  When trying to potty train a carpet
shark, you might try this:
 
Put your carpet shark in a cage and place the cage in the corner where the
litter box will go and orient the cage in such a manner that the litter box
is in the corner.  DO NOT let the ferret out of the cage for at least 24 or
more hours.  This establishes that corner as potty.  Then, allow supervised
play time for short periods for another 24 or more hours.  You will probably
notice your carpet shark going back into the cage to use the litter box.
When you see that happen a couple of times, take the litter box from the cage
and place it in the corner and you can put the cage away and move the
furniture back into place.  It has worked with all seven of my carpet sharks.
