Normally I would not speak out against any group promoting ferrets and
ferret education, but I'll make an exception in this instance. The Ferret
Fanciers Club is headquartered in Pittsburgh, PA, near where I live. I have
personally contacted this organization twice, and on both occasions the
woman with whom I spoke was unfriendly and unhelpful. I have heard numerous
similar reports from other people who have contacted her as well.

The FFC is not an active organization in the ferret community. They do not
hold meetings, attend or host shows or other any other public events. So
far as I can tell the FFC only publishes poor quality brochures for which
they charge a few dollars each. If I were you, I would strongly recommend
directing your money to other, more worthwhile periodicals (and there are
many!).

Among some of the better choices you will find Modern Ferret Magazine
(http://www.modernferret.com), the American Ferret Report (you must join the
AFA to receive this publication- see http://www.ferret.org), and the STAR
Ferrets Newsletter (for information send e-mail to [log in to unmask]).
