Well, the "pool" turned out to be a no-go, so I am now thinking about
buying a 7' diameter (1500 gal) water tank, cutting off the top, and
putting it down into the ground next to the site of the still-in-progress
10' x 19' wire-mesh pen.  Then if the wire one ever gets built, I can
connect the two...
 
Now, seems to me, this project might be another item for the Am I Crazy
(ferret-crazy) list.
