Hello, all,....you know, after 19 yrs. with Ferrets, you might think
I'd remember 'something'!!(lol)...Being a night person, my Ferts are
usually out with me each night somewhere between 1am & 5am! About 2
weeks ago, I'd got the bright idea, after some nail-checking, to cut 80
nails........well, on nail #2 of the night, I did it. "Tyler", my 8yr
old sable, flinched exactly the same time I snipped!....bled like a
stuck pig!(sorry)....At that moment, my mind went blank as to what to
do, except run around in circles holding a Fert & a paper towel turning
red.....I had no 'styptic powder', finally used a towel full of ice
cubes & pressure. It was the "Dew" claw, I believe it's called, at
least on Dogs....Since that time, my inquiries from some "non-ferret"
friends, said to try everything from 'sugar' to 'baking soda',....and
one said a "hot knife"!!!!....He was a putz anyway. Can anyone on or
offlist offer any tried & true solutions for what I'll call a "2am nail
clipping by a dumb ass"??

Thanks, I haven't done that for so long I have forgotten most of them!

Dooks to all here on the fml!......
