Hello FML readers,

I am asking all of you to contact www.petfinder.org who strives to list
our animals for adoption placement- and courteously request they post
some credible information of ferret care & training.

The only reference they have on their site is an outdated 1999 HSUS
publication which advocates feeding green peppers, chopped broccoli eggs
and more to ferrets for snacks. ( there are other goofs but this is the
biggie) I have contacted an HSUS representative on Jan 5th asking for
revision and was assured it would occur on January 6th.

I have also on behalf of Ferret Wise shelter tried to contribute numerous
articles on ferret care, to the listing email ( [log in to unmask]) on
winter keeping of ferrets, ferret health checkups , etc... none of which
were ever added to the library, nor was any contact frm this party ever
received.

It appears that both SPCA and HSUS are thwarting the domesticated ferret
within and without the sheltering industry by denying proper education to
the consuming public.

I think that it is time for Petfinder.com to pay homage to ferrets MORE
than just using our statistics for shelter listings!

Without the education they are just setting up more ill and unwanted
ferrets that someone will get to deal with. EDUCATION should be FOREMOST
in animal care . I hope you share my concerns.
