For those of you who remember....

About four years ago there was a rescue done from an SPCA in Northern New
Jersey. Sixteen ferrets had been taken in. We heard about it from the
FML. I told my friend Melissa about it because I knew she was looking
for another friend for her two ferrets Kooto and Daisy. She adopted
Sasha, a somewhat shy but sweet ferret. We don't know how old she was
when she was adopted; she could have been anything from one to four years
old at the time.

Sasha was a petite little chocolate girl who obviously was not doing well
with such a large group. It was apparent that she wasn't getting enough
to eat because she was very thin, and somewhat jumpy around other
ferrets. I'm sure that once she was adopted by Melissa, she felt that
she was in heaven. For the first time she had plenty to eat, of good
quality food. She was skittish around the other two originally, but
after a while she was finally integrated and enjoyed having friends.
She was still prone to being vocal when she played, but I think it was
a combination of being somewhat of a scaredy-cat, and having very thin
skin.

Sasha lived with Melissa for four years. About six months ago she was
diagnosed with insulinoma after losing weight for several months. She
was put on Pred, and did well for a time. Last Thursday she crashed. We
gave her some sub-Q fluids, and some honey water followed by duck soup,
and she rallied for a few days. On Sunday she crashed again, and it was
time for her to go join her friends Kooto and Daisy at the bridge. She
was a sweet girl, and she will be missed.
