I found after being gone most of the day that the screen in my bedroom
window was open and one of my three ferrets, Tayra was no where to be found.
I live on the second floor so I was sure she was hurt and curled up in a
corner. The worst part about it was that I live near woods that go on for
miles. I didnt know how long she had been gone so she could have been
anywhere. She didnt like going outside so I was sure she got scared and
took off into the woods. I found she was missing at four and immediatly
took the raisen canister and began shaking it around the apartment complex.
I then ventured into the woods after about an hour or so. After being in
the woods for another hour or so I stepped on a stick and she ran past me.
(too fast to see where she went) When she gets scared she wont come to
anyone. At least now I knew my baby was O.K., I just became even more
determined. I had to go and borrow a flashlight from my neighbor because it
was getting dark fast. At around ten last night I had given up until
morning. I didnt want to get lost myself and I didnt think that I was doing
any good. While completely breaking down I began to walk back to my door,
she was walking in the parking lot and just looked up at me. I didnt know
if I should run to her or stay still but she didnt give me the time. She
ran to me, crawled up my leg and wanted one of those treats I was shaking
around all day. It is so amazing that I found her. I knew me sitting there
crying was not going to remedy the situation so I got a grip and developed a
faith that I would find her. I just wanted to share a happy ending story
with you all, my ferrets all mean the world to me but Tayra was my first (
she's 9 months old)so I think she has an extra place in my heart. Tayra
seems to be fine after her little adventure, she has a small cut under her
chin but thats all. She has a vet appointment at 8 this morning.
