Info received from a Red Cross handout (Thanks Renee!):
 
If your family must evacuate, they will need to know where your pet can
stay.  For health and safety reasons, pets are not allowed in Red Cross
Shelters.
 
Some places your pet can stay are:
 
1.  A friend's or family member's home in a safe zone.
2.  A hotel or motel with you.
3.  A kennel in a safe area.
4.  Stay with you if your family does not have to evacuate.
 
Your pet must have his shots before he can stay in a kennel so he won't get
sick.  Remind your family to keep your pet's shots up to date especially in
hurricane season.
 
Don't forget, your pet needs a Hurricane Supplies Kit too!  Remember to put
your pet's name on all his things.
 
Pet Supplies Kit:
 
I.D. Collar
Rabies tag/documentation
Pet Carrier or Cage
Leash
Food
Water/Food bowls
Medicine
Newspaper and plastic trash bags
Favorite toy
 
Please print and distribute to your family, friends, coworkers.
