I am also an EMT and would have to agree with Dave Hinz and how to and when
to do CPR on a ferret the only thing I would add is watch out when giving
air do a "puff" is in infant CPR if you give to much you very easily blow
the lungs on a ferret being that they are very tiny compared to ours..

Next item, Bill I really hope this does not cause you alot of work but I
feel that it needs to be addressed.

I have the utmost respect for Dayna and others on the list, but the issuse
over the plastic bag I think people are over reacting to. If you took every
thing out of you home that MIGHT cause a fuzzy to hurt it self there would
be nothing left, let tell you about a few accidents I have heard about in
the 8+ years of haveing ferrets, ferret got in between the mattress and box
springs of the owners bed and went to sleep, the owner who let the fuzzies
run the house was not upset that the she could not find the fuzzy figuring
that it was a sleep somewhere else went to bed. Next day still not being
able to find fuzzy tour house apart found fuzzy dead from suffocation. (get
rid of the bed, sleep on floor)
Next ferret reclining chair, we all heard this on. (sit on stool get rid of
chair.)
Next ferreet finds power cord to computer tastey, result dead fuzzy (get rid
of computer write on paper hope Bill will type them in.)

I can go on and on with this, I love my fuzzies very much and would do
nothing to endanger them, but you have to pay attention to them like a human
child keeping one ear out and more becaue they will not run to you like a
child will when hurt. Pay attention to what they are up to. Example my
fuzzies favorite to play in bar none IS a plastic bag I have bought all
kinds of toys for them, krinkle sack they sleep in, anyway I always keep a
ear out for them when they are in the bags and I always look if one starts
making alot of racket in one just to make sure they he/she is not traped.
With a little vigilance there is no reason they can not play in plastic
bags, etc..

I see alot of accident involing humans and alot of them would not have
happened if people payed alittle more attention to what they where doing..

Thanks for reading.
