Becki,

This much vit C is fine, although do note that too much vit C will cause
diarrhea. Friday is getting approx. 200mg/day and that seems to be the max
appropriate dose for her - causes slightly loose stools and adding any more
vit C causes definite diarrhea. So, the question would be, do they drink
more than 1/5 litre/day apiece?

Vit C washes out of the system, so to speak, so overdosing with it is not
really a concern. What you could do, instead of dosing the water with it
(changing the taste of the water, although I don't think it would affect the
water's lifetime), is buy vit C powder or capsules and measure it out to
sprinkle their food with it. Buy ester C if you're worried about purity or
source. I do this with Potpie's food and she appears to dig the taste of
the pieces that have C on them more than the ones that don't. Again, I have
never heard of overdosing with C to cause a problem other than diarrhea in
ferrets.

Vit C in high doses is frequently used for cancer patient therapy, and is
also recommended in treatment of allergies, general colds/flu, and urinary
tract infections.
