I was considering using the silica gel based litter.  In the store, they
had a large sample pan, with a spray bottle that you could spray and see
how wonderfully it worked.  Instead, I wetted my finger (simulated ferret
nose) and stuck it in there.  I then had three little pearls stuck to my
finger and decided not to buy it.
