I believe that murmurs can be caused by more than one thing.  What I was
trying to say was: in my case, my heart murmur is caused by mitral valve
prolapse.  A few unpleasant symptoms (rather mind, very occasional aside),
it's a totally benign condition.
 
If my ferret had the same type of murmur for the same reason (that I have
mine), I wouldn't be worried a bit.  A murmur is not in and of itself sign
of a serious cardiac illness, as my cardiologist explained to me.
