I few days ago a neighbor asked my son if he knew anyone with a ferret they
wanted to sell or give away. It seems a friend's ferret had ran off a
while back and this friend was looking for a replacement. My neighbor
assumed that because my daughter has a ferret, that we somehow have "ferret
connections". The truth is, my daughter's ferret was originally purchased
out-of-state and then given to her when the first owner got tired of taking
care of it. Since we live in a FFZ, I haven't a clue whether or not
ferrets are readily available in our area.

My question: where would be an appropriate place for my neighbor's friend
to make discreet inquiries; or is this even possible or recommended. The
local vet we take the family dog to has a few ferret patients, but I
wouldn't want to put anyone on the spot.

We're located in the south San Francisco Bay Area if that helps.
