While I have never received spam from FMLers, I have from other
newsgroups and lists. I just wanted to toss my experience in on this.
It is usually best to keep two email addresses, one for public display
and one for private use. I use one for most of my online posting and
replies. I have this email heavily filtered so that very little comes
through. The other is my private email that is only used to email
friends and family. Another neat feature my DSL provider offers is
address guard which allows an unlimited amount of "throw away" address.
So when I register for products, I make an address use that to complete
whatever registration and then delete it. This system isn't perfect,
but it helps you keep the spam down and know where spam is coming from.
Hope that helps.
