Hi, I live with two ferrets and lately the pooping procedures of both have
given me pause. I am wondering if anyone else has had a situation like this.

1) My old male (8 1/2 years or so, He came to me about 2 years ago and there
is some confusion about his age) has taken to groaning when he poops. I had
heard it once or twice before but didn't give it much thought, but today I
am home from work and everytime he goes there is a lot of groaning and
straining. I guess the most obvious explanation would be a blockage, but I
don't think so. His health is the best it has been in the last 6 months.
He has put on weight, his fur has thickened up, and he has more energy than
ever. Does this sound familiar to anyone.

2) My young female (2 in December) has become a pooping fiend. She makes
mounds and mounds of the stuff. (and unfortunately has started to refuse to
use her litter box). When she shared her cage with another ferret the two
of them didn't make as much poop as she does now. Anyone else seen this. I
was wondering if I should just cut back on her food as she is a mite hefty.

Thanks for any help you can offer.
