Just wanted to let everyone know that I just got off the phone with Jean
Smith.  Lance has been arrested and is in custody tonight.  She will be on
ABC local news at 11:00 tonight.  They showed a short blurb earlier.  Jean
said that I was the first she had talked to since she got this news and
wanted me to know what she said.
 
First off, Jean was in complete shock because channel 4 news showed up at
her house and was filming live to give her the news of the arrest.
Secondly, she said that none of this would have happened if it were not for
the support of the FML and ferret lovers all over the world.  She wanted to
let all of you know that she is grateful for all of your support and
prayers.  She has said had it not been for us that she would not have gotten
anywhere with getting Lance arrested.  She said "Thank you, and I love the
FML".
 
Now, the real battle begins.  She is going to need as much support in the
coming months as she has had.  She has been told that Lance will only get 6
months of jail time.  She is trying to fight as hard as she can to get him
more time and possibly get him sent to a mental institute.  She will need
all of our prayers and support.
 
Wanted to let you all know the good news.  Please continue to send me
letters of support for Jean and I will make sure that she gets them.  When
you do, she would like you to include your address.
