Selena-
No you are not wrong - dog food is wrong for ferrets. According to Judi
Bell (DVM, Marshall Farms) ferrets (and cats) have special requirements for
several nutrients not found in dog food. They also have trouble digesting
the high levels of carbohydrates in dog food. They need simple
carbohydrates, protein, and fat. If ferrets are fed nothing but dog food,
they will eventually die of malnutrition.

You don't have to take my word for it - you can read it yourself in her
new book "The Pet Ferret Owner's Manual"

(BIG - that is not a quote but an extrapolation of information)

BTW, it's a great book - it's small, paperback, but nice paper, the pictures
are darling, and the information is COMPLETE!
