I just had about the scare of a lifetime: Illura was inside a pair of pants
crumpled up on the floor, I wasn't looking and (you can see where this is
going) I stepped right on her. She ran and hid under the radiator and
started coughing, and I was almost as freaked out as she was. I picked her
up and started searching frantically for the phone book, all ready to call
the emergency vet (never mind that I don't have a car and would've had to
find one of them too), when it occurred to me to actually check to see if
there was anything wrong. I put her down on the floor and she moved fine,
even tried to get out the door to go exploring. The coughing stopped after
a minute or so after the accident, I think she just got the wind knocked
out of her. When she saw I was crying she kissed me and kissed me, so I
think she knows it was an accident. This was about half an hour ago and
she's up to the same mischief as usual. I think she's ok, I'll keep
watching her but I think she's mostly just shaken. This is a lesson to
me to always watch where I'm stepping when there are ferts about!

p.s. Please, PLEASE no posts about how if I can't watch where I'm going
I have no business having ferrets or that kind of stuff. Really, I feel
horrible enough.
