West Virginia has released a very wide Dangerous Wild Animal List. The
public comment period is only open until August 1.

It states all carnivores except domestic dogs and domestic cats fall
under Dangerous Wild Animals. That includes ferrets.

And here is a link to a petition that has a draft letter. It's written
from the point of view of an aquarium & reptile hobbyist, but is a good
starting point.

Please take a moment to mail - yes, that's another part that seems to
ridiculous - a letter to the Department of Agriculture regarding this
proposed list.

I remember when ferrets were legalized in West Virginia. It was only
about 30 years ago. I dread the prospect of ferrets being outlawed due
to overzealous (possibly oblivious) legislators.
