Hello All;

I am a constant lurker and today I am coming out of lurk mode!! I have
not posted in awhile, because on July 29, 2000 I lost my beloved Razzy, I
had to help him cross the rainbow bridge. He was 9 years old and died of
megaesophagus, I was devistated I hated watching him waste away knowing
there was nothing other than help him to his final destination.

Anyway enough with the sad, here comes the happy. I was in a pet store not
to far from me I always go into pet stores to make sure the animals are
being treated right and to play with them. Well it was a week ago this
past friday, I went in and spotted the most beautiful ferret, this pet
store does not usually carry ferrets, well of course I asked if I could
hold her and I immediately feel in love. Not having the funds that day, I
begrudgingly left the pet store. Well I called 2 day later to find out if
she was still there, I could not sleep, thinking about this ferret, we had
an instant connection. Well she was at the vets office sick, she had an
infection and they did not know if she was going to make it. I called
everyday and guess what this past Saturday, she came home with me! He
name is Bailey- she is the color of Bailey's Irish Cream! She has fit
right in with the rest of my animals just like she has always been there.
It was ment to be.

I have a couple of questions. I am not sure exactly of Bailey's age, she
is a Marshall Farms ferret, I found out after purchasing her, but the way I
figure at least I know she is getting a good home. The papers say she was
born between Sept 17-23, 2000 and I don't think that is right. The pet
store guy said she was 4 weeks old the first day they came in, I tend to
believe him more, she is so tiny. Is there anyway for me to be able to
tell exactly how old she is? She is fixed descented and has her first
distemper shot. She is using the litter box really well, we have had a
couple of mistakes. I have a corner litter box, and she seems to have some
trouble in it, should I maybe get one of those square ones? I have to ask
because Razzy was never litter trained, but he went in the same place when
he was out so I just put paper down. I adopted him as an older ferret, and
you can teach an older dog new tricks, but potty training an older ferret
is damn near impossible!!

Next question is Bailey came with papers from Marshall farms and it says
that the health guantee is only good if I feed her Marshall food, which I
have heard is really good food. Unfortunately the pet stores that are
close to me do not carry it, so I don't know if the guarntee is bogus!
What I want to know is if there is any supplier that carry the Marshall
food in Canda. I forgot to mention that Bailey had a sister and she was
there with her, except when she went to the vet and my mother bought her,
because she could not bare to leave the sweet little thing all alone, I
would have if I had enough money, but now they get together and play. So
we are going to share food. But to pay exchange and duty to have food sent
from the states is a killer. I am currently feeding Bailey Ferret food the
petstore had but it is not Marshalls, and I wonder about its quality.

Well I will end this book now. I will thank each and everyone of you in
advance for any advice you can give me.

Shannon, Bailey and the rest of the zoo!
