Bandit had his adrenal surgery Monday about 2 pm. Dr Shaffer took him home
with him overnight. My wife picked him up about 4 this afternoon (Tuesday).
He seems to be alert but VERY tired. I fed him some duck soup and held him
about an hour. He sipped the food nicely and after a half-hearted attempt
to get down, decided to sleep in my arms. The doctor said it was the left
adrenal....YIPPEE....not the right one. He said it was about three quaters
of an inch and should only be the size of a pea. No evidence of pancreas or
liver problems.

All in all, a very optimistic report. He even took photos so he would have
a before and after hair growth comparison, so I see that as a sign of
optimism on his part. I hope he is right.

By the way, for those wondering about costs in this area (Orlando, FL),
here is his bill:

Sedation 16.50
Anesthesia (Inhalant-I) 30 Min 2 62.00
Adrenallectomy 137.50
Hospitalization Post-Surgical 23.00
Intensive Care Overnight 25.00 (Dr. Shaffer took him home for
                                            with him for the night)
Fluids Subcutaneous 10.00
Histopathology 52.00

He also sold us a tube of Nutri-cal 4.5 oz for 6.00, and a Carafate
Suspension for 5.00.

None of these items seems out of line, but they do add up to a bit over
$300.00. From what I have seen on this list, that it less than many pay
for this operation.

Thanks to all who emailed after my post a few days ago that Bandit was
going in for surgery. Your support is appreciated. I'll post more as
his recovery progresses.
