Hi,

We have 2 dogs and both are Norwegian Elkhounds, which are hunters.
Both dogs LOVE the ferrets.. not to hunt but to interact with. They
know they are off limits and are fragile creatures. Thankfully, I have
trained these service dogs to be non-threating or invasive to human and
other animals alike. They know their boundaries and they abide by them.
I have also trained GSD's as service dogs and they were also kind to
other animals. My theory is you can train dogs to interact with smaller
creatures, yes these interactions need to be supervised. I do believe
certain other factors play a role into whether or not ferrets and
dogs should interact..i.e certain breeds (Jack Russell, Dachasund),
temperament issues, dogs who are "more alpha" than their owners
(reason: the owner or handler can not control the dog) and so forth.

Sincerely,
Kris Church LVT

[A later P.S.]
I apologize for not proofing my post earlier... I forgot to use spell
check!

Sincerely,
