Today I decided to take my 18 year old son out to the Petco store in Hot
Springs, Arkansas that opened about a year ago. When I got in the store
and went to where the ferrets were housed I became very upset and pretty
darn mad. There were 4 ferrets fairly good sized ones at that, that were
lying in a cork-type medium with flies buzzing all around them. It was
an octagon shaped container that was made of glass. It looked like a
huge aquarium. The medium they were lying on had feces in many spots and
the smell was what probably attracted the flies. There was one dirty
looking small free standing hammock inside the 'aquarium'. There was a
small container of food that was tipped into the medium. All 4 ferrets
were sleeping. I waited for someone to come over and try a sales pitch
on me and I guess it was a good thing no one came because I was so mad I
would have said things I should not have in the heat of the moment.

This type of environment in a store that size is disgusting. I thought
they would know better then to house a ferret under such a disgusting
situation.

So here is where you all come in. What is the proper procedure for me
to try to get this resolved? I need to be polite and diplomatic and I
need advice on the procedure to take to make a formal complaint. Will
they even care? I have to wonder. But I have to try. I am haunted at
the site of those poor ferrets lying in that appalling mess and wish I
was better able to deal with it but I have never complained to a store
before and want what is best for those ferrets.

Please help me and more then anything the poor ferrets who are doomed
in that store.

Diane
