Lupron Injections (Muscular or SQ)

I have no experience with Lupron, but I am asking this for a friend.
Her vet has told her that Lupron is injected into the muscle.  I had
understood that Lupron was similar to Melatonin Implants in that it was
injected SQ and time released.
 
So her question is. . .  What 'depot' if any of Lupron is injected into
the muscle?
