Hi everyone--

I know with the hurricanes, so much focus has been on the animals in
need in those areas and rightfully so. But, we can't forget about those
closer to home that are in need as well.

I volunteer with F.U.R.R.Y. (Ferrets Underfoot Running 'Round You)
ferret rescue/shelter/club in St. Louis, MO. (www.furryferrets.org)
Just like any other animal rescue, money is very, very tight. We had
members volunteering with a community center to help out with Bingo on
Saturday nights. In turn, we received a monthly donation of $500. We
put the money towards vet bills, including surgeries and vaccinations.
Now, we are without that donation since the community center has shut
down their Bingo. Our adoption fees barely cover the basic needs of
the FURRY ferrets.

We have never turn away a ferret, especially one in need. We have a
lovely ferret mom who adopts from us the elderly ferrets in need of extra
TLC and vet care. She has even adopted a few young ones, from us, too :).
But, she has her hands full now. We have a ferret, Simon, that just
came into the shelter on Monday (picked up from the Humane Society of
Missouri) with obvious signs of adrenal disease and has a very large
chordoma on his tail. We would usually take care of a ferret with this
medical concerns but with money so tight, we are in a difficult position
of either adopting out this sweet guy to our special ferret mom, who has
her hands full, so she can get the vet care he needs or put Simon in
'hold' status until we can afford the vet care. We are currently working
on trying to raise more funds but any advice, help, and/or donations
would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you--
