I was just reading a few posts about having a deaf ferret. Something
clicked, and I thought this is my ferret.

I have a black eyed white male, has some black speckled throughout him and
at the tip of his tail, otherwise white. I got him at about 6-8months old
and introduced him to a female sable, they are best buds now. After 4
years I brought home two more males, he attacked and attacked them. I
tried all the things mentioned, like the ferretone on neck, the scruffing,
the time out, changing bedding, switching cages, etc. Nothing works and I
have to give him a separate play time-(he attacks enough to harm them, and
they are very much afraid of him). The female sable likes everyone. I
have brought home others since then, but he doesn't like any other ferret,
except for the one female. He plays great with the cat, and new kitten, he
loves to play with humans. He gives the best kisses! I just was wondering
if his aggressiveness to other ferrets was related to possible deafness.
He doesn't seem to mind the vacuum, and sleeps deeply..once my husband
carried him all the way upstairs and he didn't awaken until after a few
minutes. If he is deaf, any suggestions on getting him to like the others,
or should I just give up. I did notice that usually before he attacks he
sniffs them to make sure, when his female companion comes back to the cage
after play time with the others he sniffs her, but never attacks her. Once
in awhile I use him to figure out which of my two sable females is his
buddy.

Thanks
Patty
