I bite back! Works everytime (never do it on fear biting) but you are
talking about a 5 mons old. Place a hand over the face in case the first
time they twirl to bite back in defense but just bite the back of the neck
either quick and let go or hold a second or two. They sometimes act in
terror as if HOW COULD YOU and/or I'm being killed. I had one who all I
had to do was put my mouth near the back of the neck (having already bite,
she knew - she hated smokers and would always bite anyone who smoked) and
she would scream like her paw got caught in the door - I didn't have to
bite - and then so hurt she'd hide her head in my arm or get really quiet
and still, another would forget and get his teeth on you and all I had to
do was click my teeth and he let go and lickedlickedlicked. A mother
scuffs with her teeth and I am sure bites at times so they understand.

Time out, never do it for biting, but boy for fighting or picking on the
girls..........had only 1 female who ever earned herself in the badboy
box, she'd been a past breeder and never got over jealousy of other girls.
This is a carrier set up with one babyblanket in the floor nothing else -
no luxuries. In he goes for 10 minutes, they know, and it works wonders.
THe timing is very important and with a kit I would think 5 minutes would
be sufficient but if he gets out and does the same thing immediately
again, he needs 8 to 10. You put them in for longer or just put them back
in their cage, they forget why and/or entertain themselves with what is in
the cage, it needs to be basic and shorttimed in something they normally
are not in anyother time. True they go in the carrier to go to the vet
and that seems okay. If you want to put them back in their cage after
the time out, that is okay, its back to their wonderful world but they do
need that time out for bad behavior so they won't pull it the next time
they have the opportunity.

I don't know of anyone telling that thumping the nose works. It either
is play to them or they get where they are scared of your hands being in
front of them or touching their head or even reaching for them.
