Thank you Joanne for listing the web references to ferret attacks.  The
only one that has any real meaning is the last one
<http://www.idir.net/~wolf2dog/texasbite.htm >, because if puts the
number of ferret attacks (1) in context with attacks by other animals,
for example domestic dogs 681, cats 81 and even mice 2.
 
Yes there are cases where ferrets attack babies; so do dogs, cats, and
even other humans.  But in comparison with these other animals, ferrets
are rather unlikely to attack, and EXTREMELY unlikely to cause death.
