Will haveing 1200 dollar ferrets reduce cases of abuse?  I doubt it.
You'll just get richer people leaving them in their cages or trying to
get rid of them.  (Parrot abuse, birds which ARE expensive, do suffer
large amount of inapropreate care, with possably fully 2/3rd of parrots
kep being kept in inadiquet conditions <numbers from World Parrot Trust
