My little girl Belle was once also a dark sable girl. When she was about
2, she started graying at the hindquarters. This is called roaning, and it
just another color variation. Roaning is why a lot of silvers and marked
whites turn into dark eyed whites as they age.

Belle is now 7 1/2, and while she doesn't have a full coat due to adrenal,
she has still gotten much lighter. Her hindquarters are about 3/4 silver
now, with some light hairs throughout the rest of her body.
