Disposal of ferret droppings

How do you all dispose of your ferrets' droppings?  I have newspaper litter
and it says you can flush it but im not so sure about that.  My mom always
put her cat droppings in plastic bags from the grocery store.  I've been
doing that, but im running out of bags and it's starting to smell really
bad.
