Several people wrote me personally that their United Way campaigns did not
allow monies to be dedicated to 'outside' groups. Many communities want
the money to be used locally and some must go to great lengths to make
sure that happens. What mine says is "...the money raised here stays
here, unless requested by the donor." I've highlighted the words 'unless
requested by the donor'. My 'card' was actually a standard size sheet of
paper and there was no place for an EIN so I wrote it in.

Tomorrow is the last day to turn in pledges where I work, so I'm going to
be brazen and ask everyone I know if they are still not sure where they
want their donations to go and pitch for SOS if I can. In fact, one of
my friends copied my SOS information onto her 'card' and attached a $10.
bill. That's $10. more than we had before I asked!

Individual shelters who are 501C-3 can also be named the recepient. Next
year I'd like to try and orchastrate this better and get all the eligible
shelters to participate. We'll start when school begins in Sept. Uh,
somebody remind me, ok?
