Also notice that one mechanism for the antioxidants wording things w an
existing lung tumor is the effect of the action of the p53 gene. Mutant
p53 genes were found in some ferrets by a team headed by Dr. Bob Wagner
and are a possible contributor to some ferret individuals being more
prone to tumor formation and to malignancies. That gene affects more
than just lung tumors. Altering it or reducing its action reduces the
body's ability to destroy mutated cells.
