Kim,
I have two girl ferrets and I take a soft brush and spray raspberry body
spray on it, then I brush them all over.  It gets rid of loose hair and
makes them smell pretty, without spraying it directly on them.  I do this
about once a week and they stay nice smelling.  I suppose the ferrets
should all have the same smell.
 
Also, I have a dig box for them, filled with rice, when they play in it,
the rice really neutralizes their smell for as long as they play in it (I
mean for a couple days at a time), mine play in it every day.
