About four months ago, Roxie, one of my beloved little furballs died under
really difficult circumstances. I was left with Bones, a male sable, and
the first ferret I've ever had, and so therefore a very dear little guy.
Recently, a friend of mine moved into a situation where she couldn't bring
her ferrets. She asked me to take Otto, one of her cinnamon males. Bones
is a little over three years old and Otto is right around two. They seemed
to get along pretty well at first, though I noticed they were playing a lot
more roughly with each other than I was used to with just Roxie (a female)
and Bones.

Recently I've noticed that Otto has been biting Bones harder and more
roughly than I'm comfortable with. Bones has bite marks on his neck, and
occasionally, I've had to step in and separate them when Otto has bit into
Bones' neck and started dragging him. Bones doesn't seem to be emotionally
different now than before - he's still playful and has a healthy diet, and
he doesn't seem afraid of Otto at all, but I'm still concerned that Otto is
just a bit too rough with Bones.

Are my concerns founded, or is it pretty much natural with males to fight
this roughly? If not, what can I do to make Otto take it easy on Bones?
How concerned should I be about the bite marks?

Any help would be appreciated.
