I haven't had this happen with a ferret but with my daughters rabbit.
Vet called it "pasturilla" a severe inner ear infection where a pets head
looks like its on crooked. My vet gave us ben-e-bac and also baytril.

the major thing is if the pet can still eat on its own. With this
infection they have trouble knowing up from down and eating is a
challenge.

the rabbit fully recovered from it and lived another 3 years with no side
effects.. nor crooked head.

Good luck.
