I was just thinking about the problems with "backyard breeders" (who ARE
the equivalent of puppy mills) and it struck me that one reason some
states don't work harder to prevent such abuses is because these places
bring revenue into the states, so...

and here is the question...

Would NOT pursuing jail time and instead pursuing new laws with high
fines attached ( Read as "money to the state".) go over in some of those
states as a more accepted way to go after such animal abusers?

Hey, may as well try to think of possible solutions...

I'll copy this to Alicia; she has a feel for this (and will be teaching
about this including how she got the first law mandating an 8 week
minimum age for ferrets being sold or transported at the IFC Ferret
Symposium in October -- http://www.ferretcongress.org ).

Off to bed now. Chiclet wore herself out with about 5 minutes of play
yesterday so today was a hard day for her but she just ate a LOT of lamb
babyfood and is sleeping comfortably and today was her second day without
a fever even though she node is still somewhat up and she has almost no
energy. She isn't out of the woods, yet, but we both now feel that she
is going to make it.
